Lume - System Activity Monitor

I'm excited to introduce a new app from Boring Design called Lume. This is a macOS system monitoring software that helps you understand the current status of your macOS, such as CPU, disk, and network usage. It's a completely free software that anyone can use without any cost. So don't hesitate - you can download it right away from the Apple Store!

Why Build Lume?

Those familiar with us know that we're a small product studio. Over the past two years, we've been very passionate about building AI-related products and continuously creating new products through large language models. In the past two years, we've been constantly experimenting with using code large language models to shape apps. Lume is also our latest product leveraging large language models, but unlike before, this time Lume has achieved two new milestones under the upgrade of large language models:

• Development time reduced to 2 hours
• Human intervention less than 10%

We used Claude Code throughout to complete the main framework development of the software. After continuous communication with Claude Code, we completed the basic prototype construction in 2 hours. However, unfortunately, Claude Code still has limitations in design autonomy, and optimizing into beautiful UI was ultimately done by us manually. Despite this, the current situation makes us feel extremely excited. Over the past two years, we've made multiple attempts, from initially needing a month to later taking 2 weeks. The speed of change in large language models is something we can hardly imagine.

Of course, building Lume isn't just to test the capabilities of large language models. We found that many system monitoring software on the market are overly complex with unoptimized interfaces and a bunch of complicated configurations. We think sometimes we don't need everything to be so complex, so we decided to build a simple and sufficient small software from our own perspective, allowing it to provide small assistance in daily work.

What Does Lume Have?

For Lume, we want it to be simple, and within simplicity, we aim for excellent experience and elegant design. So we won't add a lot of features, but define it as simple and sufficient from the beginning. We currently provide basic information like CPU, memory, disk, network, and battery, ensuring that this information can let users know their current computer's performance range within the minimum scope.

How to Use Lume

Lume is a free software that you can download from the App Store. It contains no ads and everything is completely free.
